You may pride yourself in having a well-curated skincare routine, but are you using them the right way?
These mistakes could easily halt your journey towards flawless skin, and some of these you've probably done without even knowing! Find out what they are below:
1. Letting The Dropper Touch Your Face When Applying Serums
Believe it or not, your face is not the most hygienic surface for you to rest your skincare dropper on. When the dropper becomes in contact with your skin, the bacteria residing on it could cling onto glass structure and contaminate your serum once it is put back in.
2. Re-using The Leftover Serum From Your Sheet Mask
Sheet masks are designed for one-time uses and therefore, trying to "prolong" its shelf life by saving the leftovers to be used another day isn't exactly a smart move. You'll just be putting expired serum on your face. Yikes.
3. Applying Very Little Sunscreen
Always remember the three-finger rules when applying sunscreen, and do NOT neglect your neck.
4. Mixing Sunscreens With Other Beauty Products
Mixing sunscreens with other products (i.e foundation) might seem like a good idea but doing so will essentially disrupt the film formation; a protective layer that sunscreens are designed for in the first place. That way, your sunscreen will become less effective in protecting your skin.
5. Leaving Your Sunscreen Under The Sun
Heat can be damaging to sunscreens, especially when it's exposed under the sun for a long time. Heat interferes with the effectiveness of the sunscreen and renders it purposeless. Instead of keeping your sunscreen in your car or close to a window, keep it in contained storage, like your handbag or inside your vanity drawer.
