The Kelantan state government is set to introduce its own rice brand, Beras Agro Darul Naim, in the coming year to meet the local demand in the region. This initiative is part of the state's efforts to bolster rice production, with a focus on facilitating the development of rice and paddy factories.
Tuan Mohd Saripudin Tuan Ismail, the State Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry, and Commodity Committee chairman, highlighted the collaboration between the Kelantan Agricultural Development Corporation, Kelantan Agricultural Group Berhad, and investor partners in this venture. He emphasized the forthcoming special allocation geared towards establishing a dedicated rice and paddy factory in Meranti, Pasir Mas, scheduled for 2024.
Responding to a query raised by Tuan Azhar Salleh (PAS-Pulai Condong) during the state assembly sitting, Tuan Mohd Saripudin underscored the significance of this endeavor in fortifying the local rice production landscape.
Additionally, Tuan Mohd Saripudin emphasized that the Kelantan government is actively tackling food security challenges by instituting measures such as the formation of the Kelantan Food Security Steering Committee.
