Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi confirmed that the Perak Public Works Department (PWD) is currently investigating the incident. The department is also working on identifying alternative routes to help alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
"I have been informed about the situation, including reports of a burst dam that left 109 people stranded in four locations, including two recreational sites in the Muallim district," Nanta Linggi shared in a Facebook post.
According to the PWD's report, the collapse of the bridge on state road A121, Jalan Slim River-Behrang Ulu, was caused by the floodwaters.

Nanta Linggi emphasized the importance of safety and has directed the department to take immediate action to manage the situation. This includes installing road signages at the affected route to ensure motorists are aware of the dangers.
"I strongly urge all road users, especially residents in the vicinity, to follow the instructions issued by the authorities and avoid using the affected road," he added.
