The Malaysian government has re-set the price of face masks. The 3-layer face mask was originally set at RM 2 per piece and has been reduced to RM 1.50 per piece, to be effective on April 1.
The officials of the Ministry of Defence, Ismail Sabri pointed out that, the government will monitor the market price for face masks from time to time. If the market price went down, the government would readjust the price.
Up till now, the local production for face mask remains low, hence, Malaysia needs to import face masks from foreign countries. The government has decided to set the price at RM 1.50.
Prices for face masks:
1-layer face mask: RM 0.15/piece & RM 7/box (50 pieces)
2-layer face mask: RM 0.20/piece & RM 10/box (50 pieces)
3-layer face mask: RM 1.50/piece & RM75/box (50 pieces)
N95: RM 6/piece
