KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a policeman with the rank of Sub-Inspector following his action of firing a gun at a civilian man in a pub in Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, last night.
Selangor police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said following the incident, a 56-year-old man working at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJN), Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD), was detained for further investigation to identify the real motive for the action.
"I have confirmed the suspect is a policeman and he is being investigated for further investigation whether he is under the influence of alcohol or otherwise," he told BH, today.
Earlier, Serdang police chief, Assistant Commissioner A Anbalagan, said the initial investigation found that the suspect fired a shot with a pistol and hit a 56 -year -old male customer in the pub.
"Immediately after the incident, the victim who suffered gunshot wounds to the back of the body and left arm was rushed to Serdang Hospital for treatment and is now reported to be in stable condition.
"The suspect had permission to carry the firearm and pistol used at the time of the incident were seized for further investigation," he said.
He said the initial investigation found that the suspect did not know the victim and there was no provocation between the two.
