On June 9, the official launching of Mémorie Café was hosted to create awareness of the Eurasian culture in Malaysia. In addition, the launch was officiated by Deputy Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, Datuk Musa Haji Yusof to promote Malaysia's heritage and tourism attractions. Mémorie Café is a newly opened café that celebrates many cultures through dishes inspired by Malaysia's rich history.
A little fact of the day: Eurasians are people of any mixed European and Asian ancestry, usually the amalgamation of Portuguese, Dutch, British, Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Peranakan influences. Therefore, what better way to create awareness of the culture than through the stomach. Mémorie Café is the first Eurasian restaurant franchise in Malaysia as our nation is known for its diverse cultures.
Mémorie Cafés interior is dripping with history. From the wall decorations to the little trinkets placed around the cafe. There is even a list of dishes that people eat starting from the year 1511 until 1957. History has never been more exciting when it comes to food.
Why dont we get to the best part of the launching? Can you guess? The food, of course!
Here is what we had:
- Lemak N.Sembilan
- Prawn Bostador
- Deep Fried Eggplant
- Debal Chicken
- Portuguese Tart
