ICYMI: WATCH: Crystal-Clear Video Of Sabah's Natural Beauty Captivates International Viewers
A video of a dead sea turtle found mutilated while drifting in the open sea in Pulau Redang yesterday has made its rounds on popular social media platform, Tiktok.
The 68-second Tiktok video explained how the dead turtle was terribly wounded with its internal organs sticking out from its shell.
@ganuonthego Sedih tapi itulah hakikatnya . Kita tidak salahkan kepada kepada pengusaha ataupun kepada pelancong tapi hanya sekadar mahu mereka untuk lebih berhati-hati . The video owner stated that the turtle's injuries were due to boatmen or tourist boat operators who navigate their vehicles carelessly and speed recklessly.
"If you operate your boats near the island, please do so at a reasonable speed because the risk of colliding with sea turtles is higher in the area," he said.
"We visit places like these to admire the beauty of nature, but sometimes we overlook the fact that we are actually harming the environment," said Tiktok user @snkhalifah.
Another user @bobbyflapjack95 mentioned that he initially thought the white presence on top of its shells were plastic but it was actually the turtle's inner organs still intact.
The group of men in the video had properly buried the dead turtle and hoped that incidents like this can be avoided in the future as sea turtles are becoming more endangered.
The Tiktok video has since garnered 1.2 million views and 104,300 likes.
