In a recent TikTok revelation through his TikTok account @m_aimanfaiz, a Foodpanda rider named Aiman shed light on the impact of tipping through the app on a rider's earnings. Aiman urged customers to stop tipping through the app, asserting that it might adversely affect the rider's fare.
Aiman's video showcased what transpires when customers tip riders through the Foodpanda app. He suggested that customers give tips in person rather than through the app, as tipping through the app could lead to a reduction in the rider's base fare.

Breaking down the payment structure, Aiman explained that riders would still receive the full tip, but Foodpanda would decrease the base fare. To illustrate, he shared an example where he received a payment of RM6.90, which included a RM2.00 tip. However, he ultimately received only RM4.90 for the order.
Aiman's revelation prompted several netizens to express their gratitude for clarifying the tipping process, with many pledging to tip riders directly in the future. However, there were also calls for clarification from Foodpanda, as some riders stated they hadn't experienced such base fare reductions due to tips as explained by Aiman.
As of the time of writing, Foodpanda has not posted any statement regarding this issue. Nonetheless, this shouldn't stop anyone from tipping the riders. For their hard work, they certainly deserve it.
