A recent event in the Olympic Games that has touched the hearts of many people across the world happened when Nina Sterchx was unable to lift a weight of 101kg causing her to break down in tears. 

Nina Sterchx is an 18-year-old Belgium talented weightlifter who qualified for the Olympics after winning the bronze medal at the 2021 European Championships in Moscow. 

Before her Olympic debut, she won multiple medals including the silver medal at the Junior World Championships. While her goal was to participate in the 2024 Olympics, her win at the Junior World Championships fast-tracked her goal to this year as it made her qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Nina competed in the women’s weightlifting 49 kg Group A, with several world record holders and Olympic record holders such as China’s Hou Zhihui, India’s Chanu Mirabai, and Indonesia’s Cantika Aisah. 

Although it was not an easy task, her performance inspired us and made her a role model to mane young adults around the world. 

She successfully lifted 81 and a whopping 99 kg, however, she did face some trouble when it came to the 101 kg weight. On her second attempt, she managed to lift it up into the air, but the judges unfortunately rejected that attempt which caused her to breakdown in tears. 

At the end of the competition, she finished in 5th place. 

Her emotional moment that brought tears to our eyes shows us her spirit and her determination. Although she struggled on her first attempt, she didn’t give up and she managed to lift it. 

We don’t care what the judges say, Nina is a winner in our eyes, and we can’t wait to see her compete again in the 2024 Olympics.
