It's bad enough that we don't get to exercise much these days due to the pandemic, especially if our favorite sport involves other people. So, the only way towards a healthy lifestyle now lies with our mouth. As the saying goes, "an apple a day keeps the doctors away". Eating the right foods can keep us fit and improve our immune system.
But, what other foods actually do keep the doctors away?
Olive Oil
It's almost impossible to keep oil out of our foods, so the best way is to keep that oil as healthy as posssible. That's where olive oil comes it. Its unsaturated fat reduces the risk of various heart diseases, strokes, and obesity. Meanwhile, the oleic acid found in olive oil can actually help reduce the amount of "bad fats" in our bodies and give the effect of weight loss.
Lentils
Out of the many beans and legumes, lentils are definitely not among the tastiest, but they are definitely one of the most beneficial. Helping to reduce inflammation in the body, lowering cholesterol levels, and promoting the metabolism of fats are just some of the main functions of lentils.
Walnuts
If you google "the king of nuts", this is what you'll find, and for good reason. The antioxidants that they contain are at least double that of other nuts. Plus, the Omega-3 fatty acids also found in them are good for the brain and the heart. Eating walnuts at least once or twice a week can definitely help with cardiovascular diseases.
Oat
If you're looking for a good food for breakfast (now that you definitely have time for breakfast if you're staying at home) then look no further. Antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and a powerful soluble fiber called Beta-Glucan can all be found in it. What do you get in return? Reduced cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, and a better digestive tract are just the tip of the iceberg.
Apples
And, of course, as a gentle reminder in case you have forgotten, apples or just fruits in general are also much needed. The fiber can be great for your skin and digestive systems.
So, if you can manage to eat these foods daily or weekly, I can almost assure you'll have a healthier body than you started with!
