A startling incident unfolded a few days ago as a man was apprehended by local authorities for vandalizing a revered statue within the sacred precincts of the Sri Mangala Nayagi Amman temple in Matang, Perak.
Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab. Hamid, the Taiping District Police Chief, confirmed that a police report was promptly filed, leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator.
A video shared in Telegram groups captured the moment when the seemingly deranged man can be seen shouting obscenities as a group of men, presumably onlookers, were attempting to calm him down.
"Subsequent to the filed report, law enforcement authorities succeeded in arresting a 23-year-old local resident. Furthermore, two hammers believed to have been used in the desecration of the temple's sacred statue were also confiscated," Commissioner Razlam revealed during a press conference held earlier today.
Commissioner Razlam emphasized the legal aspect of the case, stating, "The case is being diligently investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code."
Understandably, this act of vandalism has left the local community deeply shaken.
