South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead at the age of 24, authorities confirmed. Her body was discovered by a friend at her residence in Seoul's Seongsu-dong district around 16:55 local time (07:55 GMT) on Sunday.
Police have stated that there were no signs of foul play, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of her death.
Kim, who was born in 2000, gained recognition as a child actor and was widely regarded as one of South Korea's most talented young stars. She made her breakthrough in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her career continued to flourish with roles in hit films such as The Man from Nowhere (2010) and The Neighbour (2012), earning her critical acclaim.
She also appeared in notable projects like A Girl at My Door (2014) and the television series Mirror of the Witch (2016). However, her career took a downturn in 2022 following a drink-driving incident, which led to legal repercussions and her withdrawal from the public eye.
Kim's final acting appearance was in Netflix's 2023 Korean drama Bloodhounds, though her role was significantly reduced due to controversy surrounding the incident.
Her sudden passing has left fans and the entertainment industry mourning the loss of a once-promising star.
