Now, that's new!
On November 24, 2022, Malaysia's new prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conducted a live press conference with Astro Awani and responded to a number of inquiries about his position and Malaysia's future goals.
One significant question was asked: Who will he appoint as the deputy prime minister?
The new administration, according to Anwar, is a coalition between Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, and Gabungan Parti Sarawak. Anwar Ibrahim thereupon declared that there would initially be two Deputy Prime Minister seats, with one position going to each of Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
The newly appointed prime minister has also stated that his primary focus would be on the costs of living of Malaysians.
