Men's doubles world CHAMPION Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and world number two singles player Lee Zii Jia are among the players nominated for the 2022 Badminton World Federation (BWF) Player of the Year Award.
BWF announced that Olympic and World Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, last year's World Champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore, and Lee Zii Jia, the 2022 Asian Champion, are the three nominees for the Male Player of the Year award.
While Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were crowned World Champion last August was nominated for Best Doubles Award along with Women's Doubles World Champion, Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan (China), the 2021 Mixed Doubles World Champion Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand) and reigning World Mixed Doubles Champion, Zheng Si Wei-Huang Ya Qiong (China).
Apart from that, the Best Female Player Award category will see competition between the world number two, An Se Young (South Korea), the 2021 and 2022 world champion, Akane Yamaguchi (Japan), and the world number four, Tai Tzu Ying (Taiwan).
