If you're looking for a brunch spot that also serves decadent petit fours that are full of flavours and has multiple OOTD spots for you to get a few snaps for the Gram, then you've got to visit Utoo Boho Cafe, located in Lebuh Victoria Penang.
Since opening its doors in December 2021, its unique Bohemian interior decor has not failed to attract people like bees to a honeypot. It had wooden furniture, rattan decor items, feathery trinkets perfect for photos, and macrame wall hangings. You can choose to enjoy your food on the tables or opt for the floor seating section which is recommended for larger groups.
To be honest, the whole cafe is like a photo booth for those who love having photoshoots but if you're bombarded by all the cool photo spots and don't know which one to choose from, here are our favourite spots:
#1 This cute little comfortable teepee
#2 Ukelele bench and macrame wall hangings
#3 The grand entrance
Now enough with the decorations, time to dive into the delicious food and desserts that Utoo Boho Cafe has to offer. While they have an extensive drink and dessert menu, please note that for meals, they mainly serve brunch meals perfect for small eaters or someone who is just looking to try some delicious desserts.
Their brunch menu mainly consists of delicious meat, fish, prawn or eggs on a thick slice of bread. Here's what we tried:
# Smoked duck poached egg
Tender and moist smoked duck with a perfectly cooked poached egg topped with hollandaise sauce, olive oil, parsley and pepper served on sourdough bread with a side of greens.
# Avochic Poached Egg
Your classic avocado toast with chicken ham, perfectly poached egg, buttery avocado, olive oil, parsley and pepper on a thick slice of sourdough bread with a side of greens.
# Norwegian Brunch
This item is a combination of smoked salmon, arugula topped with hollandaise sauce, olive oil and pepper on caraway rye bread and some avocado spread, feta cheese with olive, poppyseed, chilli flakes, pepper, lemon zest and olive oil on a slice of caraway rye bread.
After the flavourful brunch, we had a little more room in our tummies for some dessert and we just had to try their petit fours! Here's what we had:
# Blushing Strawberry Mousse
In case you can tell which one we're talking about it's the pink one in the back that looks like a pink square cloud. This is a Korean-inspired dessert is a Strawberry mousse made with fresh strawberries paired perfectly with elderflower jelly and lime that literally melts in your mouth!
# Ruby
Sadly for all you matcha lovers, every month, Utoo Boho Cafe has themed desserts and March was "So March Matcha" but March is over now so you won't be able to try Ruby but let's wait and see what's their April theme! Ruby, the one next to the Strawberry Mousse, is a combination of a pistachio base topped with a thick and creamy matcha ring with some raspberry jam in the middle.
# Emerald Ganache
The Emerald Ganache is a real delight! It takes you on a texture and flavour journey with the crunchiness and nutty flavours of ground pistachio and the silky soft pistachio mousse and the pleasant sour and sweetness of raspberry jam.
By this time we were pretty full but we needed something to quench our thirst, here's what we had:
From left to right, we ordered the Dalgona Macha topped with some crispy and crunchy dalgona cookies, the Fragaria, one of their signature drinks made with strawberries and soy milk and lastly the Dalgona Latte for the caffeine-addict in the friend group.
The drinks were all rich in flavours and by the time we finish them, we were so full up we could not eat anymore!
Overall we enjoyed the food and drinks at Utoo Boho Cafe and the ambience was certainly a huge plus! The desserts were OUT OF THIS WORLD and we would definitely recommend you to visit it!
