A homemaker was discovered lifeless, bearing three stab wounds to her chest in an incident at an upscale housing estate near Ayer Keroh yesterday evening.

The Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, reported that his team was alerted to the incident around 3:30 pm when contacted by medical assistants from Melaka Hospital. They reported finding a woman abandoned in the bathroom of her home with signs of stabbing.

He stated that following the call, a police team, including forensic personnel, promptly arrived at the scene to conduct further investigations into the discovery of the lifeless body of the 34-year-old victim, who was also a mother to a young son.

"The initial investigation indicates that the incident occurred between 2 pm and 3:30 pm. At the time of the incident, only the victim and her seven-year-old son were present in the residence, along with her 65-year-old mother-in-law. The victim's husband was reportedly not at home as he was working outside the area. When found, the victim was fully clothed and in a helpless state.

"Further investigation revealed three stab wounds to the left chest, ranging from two to three centimetres in length. Additionally, a knife was found lodged in the left chest," he explained when contacted.

Elaborating further, Christopher mentioned that the investigation also found no signs of a struggle or disorder within the victim's residence.

"A review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed no movements in or out of the two-story bungalow through the front and back doors. Moreover, examinations of the surroundings and inside the house yielded no evidence of a disturbance," he added.

He mentioned that the victim's body was subsequently sent to the Forensic Department of Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

"Based on the initial investigation conducted, no criminal elements have been identified in this incident, and the case is classified as a sudden death (SDR)," he concluded.
