A shocking case from India has come to light after a man confessed to killing his wife and sharing horrifying details about how he attempted to eliminate evidence of the crime.
The accused, 45-year-old Gurumurthy, admitted to dismembering the body of his wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi, 35, and boiling her remains in a pressure cooker. According to police officials, the boiled body parts were later discarded in a nearby lake, an act that mirrors the gruesome murder of Hong Kong model Abby Choi in 2023.
Madhavi was reported missing on January 16 after she failed to return home. Her parents lodged a missing persons complaint on January 18, during which Gurumurthy actively joined the search efforts, attempting to mislead investigators. Initially, he claimed that Madhavi had left home in anger following an argument and never returned.
However, as police delved deeper into the case, inconsistencies in Gurumurthy's account led them to interrogate him further. A week after her disappearance, Gurumurthy confessed to the brutal crime, revealing the chilling steps he took to conceal his actions.
Authorities revealed that prior to the murder, the couple had a heated argument, though details about the exact cause of their conflict remain unclear. Gurumurthy, an ex-army personnel residing in New Venkateshwara Nagar Colony, Meerpet, allegedly acted in a fit of rage.
The police have not recovered Madhavi's remains. Search efforts continue as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the crime.
