Chubby Girl Fashion | A Little Plus Size? Stay Stylish with these 8 Outfit Ideas

Not everybody has perfect curves. And even if a girl has a perfectly proportioned shape, there is always something about her body that she lacks confidence in. But it is in a girl’s nature to want to look as beautiful as she can. So, here are 8 tips and ideas on how to dress yourself to look slim before you really slim down.

1. Don’t like it? Hide it!

If you want to look slim and slender, you need to know the specific body part that is the fattest and try to keep people’s eyes away from it. Girls with big hips should avoid wearing flared skirts while those with thick calf muscle and hate it should stay away from boots.

Keep in mind that there are some patterns and designs that suit you and there are others who don’t. Try to not put ruffle or puff sleeves, big polka dots or cascading laces on you as they could double your size. Also, pay attention to the color and clothes material. If you hate your thick thigh, don’t make it look thicker by wearing neon colors or skinny leather pants.

Asian girls are mostly bottom-heavy, so, it is recommended that they wear light-colored clothes and accessories like hairpins to draw attention to the upper body.

2. Show your slimmest body part

No matter how chubby you are, there must be an area where you think is the thinnest of all. This is what you are going to use to compensate for the areas that make you less confident. As known by many, showing wrist or ankles helps a lot in your overall slimmer appearance. Take advantage of this by rolling up your sleeves or pants. Oh, and not forgetting your sexy collar bone and shoulders! If you are confident in your shoulder line, you may want to wear sleeveless tops more often. Those who have nice face features can also keep your hair side-swept.

Then, accentuate these features with accessories like thin bracelet or choker. It takes just small ornaments to shift people’s attention to these areas when nobody would care if your thigh has become thicker than 2 days ago.

3. Go vertical, look taller

If getting fat means ‘growing horizontally’, then chubby girls should know that the only way for you to style yourselves into looking slim is to appear ‘vertical’.

This doesn’t mean only wearing vertical stripes, but showing an overall ‘smooth line’ appearance visually. Therefore, try not to mix too many colors on yourself as this will increase the horizontal image. Instead, wear clothes of the same tone to ‘pull’ your height.

Besides, carry long shoulder bags and not a large canvas bag. This will make you look ‘vertical’ instead of ‘horizontal’.

4. Black is beautiful

The color black is a chubby girl’s best friend as it can cover almost all types of fatness. Which is why you MUST know how to make good use of its benefits.
If you are not an expert in mixing and matching, the safest black clothing items will be a coat and a pair of pants. Adding a black coat to your outfit is like shading the sides of your body and tadaa~ you’re half your size now! Or when you want to hide your huge thigh, especially while taking a photo, a pair of nice black pants is a must.

However, one mistake on styling with black will make you look heavy. So, wearing black and white clothes or a black top with a white-collar can efficiently minimize the heavy effect.

5. Show it, don’t hide it

Sometimes, covering your body will expose more of the parts you are not confident with, other than making you look dull and boring. In fact, showing certain body parts gives you an elegant and refreshing vibe. For example, a top-heavy girl appears slimmer when wearing U-neck or V-neck shirt than a round neck or turtleneck shirt. And instead of covering your neck with a shawl, fasten 1 or 2 top buttons of your button-up shirt will help your face looks smaller.

If you are not confident with your legs, go for irregular items like a split dress.

6. Beware of the Oversize

Like girls who love to cover themselves, some others prefer wearing oversized clothes. This, however, could be a huge mistake. The cutting of oversized clothes is very dangerous. Even if you have a proportioned hourglass shape, this is not a risk you would want to take.  You don’t want to look like a walking bucket in those oversized clothes, do you? Therefore, wearing fitting clothes is the best. A tight-fitting shirt is more suitable than an oversized shirt to bring out the slender in you.

Other than that, if you really are a big fan of baggy clothes, try changing them to a better shape by wearing belts or pins.

7. Embellish the shape of your face with accessories

A small accessory can make a huge difference. Chubby girls tend to have a round face. A pair of dangling earrings would be perfect to make the face look thinner. The simpler and longer, the better. Remember, stay away from big and round earrings. But if you do have a small face, congratulations. Now you can go for large and exaggerating earrings so your face will look even smaller.

8. Mind your posture

The way you carry yourself is important. After all, you are the soul of your outfit. If you go out there looking like a hunchback, even the clothes with the best slimming effect can’t be of any help. In order to avoid looking thick, don’t forget to always straighten your back. Then your sexy collarbones and shoulders will stand out. Besides, when you are taking a photo, stand with an arm on your hip show the curve, and not your fat, on your arm.

Whether you hate your chubby upper part or heavy bottom, there is always a way to conceal them and enhance the areas that you are confident with. Follow the guide and let’s all become the graceful maiden we wish to be.
