If there is one thing the people love, it is a good dose of real life drama. 

After today's legendary series of events at the Oscars 2022, we decided to do a short recap of some of the most controversial instances in Oscar history, over the past 20 years.

#5 Angelina Jolie's eyebrow-raising kiss with her brother (2000)

At the 2000 Academy Awards, Angelina Jolie won best supporting actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted. After the ceremony the actress was caught on camera giving her brother a rather strong kiss on the lips. 

The gesture was spun into controversy, but Jolie brushed it off saying that she and her brother were just close and affectionate that way. 

#4 Jennifer Lawrence's literal fall from grace (2013)

On her way to receive the best actress award for her role on the Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence tripped on her dress while ascending the stairs to the stage. 

Fortunately, Hugh Jackman was there to help her to her feet, and she took the fall in good humor. "You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell. That's really embarrassing", she said. 

#3 Chris Rock's comment about racism (2016)

In 2016, most of the awards went to white actors, and kicked of the campaign #OscarsSoWhite. At the ceremony, host Chris Rock brought up the elephant in the room, together with a speech about race in Hollywood. 

He passed a comment saying, "I'm here at the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the White People's Choice Awards. You realize if they nominated hosts, I wouldn't even get this job. Y'all would be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now."

#2 The wrong movie announced for best picture (2017)

Nothing like the honor of winning best picture, however in 2017, that honor was taken back just as fast as it was given. 

The winner which was supposed to be Moonlight, was wrongly announced as La La Land by presenter Warren Beatty and the rest became history. 

#1 Will Smith slaps Chris Rock on stage (2022)

And taking the cake is today's jaw-dropping instant went Will Smith went on stage to slap Chris Rock across the face. 

After Chris' supposedly comical comment to Will's wife Jada regarding her being bald, Will Smith walked on stage to smack Chris Rock and then yelled "Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth", twice.
