We love a company that understands the importance of spending time with the person you love. While work is important, we have to have a proper and healthy work-life balance not only to reduce stress but also to prevent burnout in the workplace.
Recently, Tiandi No.1 Beverage, a company in China went viral online after announcing that the 20th of May will be a Paid Holiday and employees were encouraged to use this holiday to "date someone, love someone and make someone"!
In case you didn't know, May 20 is commonly referred to as 520 which originally started as a slang word used by the Chinese online as a shortcut to say I love you in Chinese like ILY because it sounds phonetically similar to wo ai ni (I love you) in Mandarin.
Due to the usage of 520, it slowly became associated with May 20 and people dubbed it the Chinese Internet Valentines Day. Most people choose to spend this day doing something romantic for their partner and maybe going out on a date with the love of their lives!
In the announcement notice, the company quotes some statistics saying that the country's population will be lesser than 10 million in 300 years from now. Due to this, the company, which is predicted to be running for more than 100 years, will be forced to hire foreigners.
So, in order to grow the family tree, the company encouraged their employees to use this holiday to date someone, love someone, and make someone to continue the culture and legacy.
They even ended the notice with the slogan "520, fuck it up!". Yasssss, that really got me fired up for some babymaking!
After several local media outlets approached the company to find out if it was true, the department confirmed that it was in fact legitimate. It is part of their strategy to help boost work satisfaction and happiness among employees.
So, Malaysia... when are we going to get our public holiday for making babies?
