Malaysia has entered the second phase of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). As announced previously, married couples who are living in different states are allowed to travel interstate to meet their families.
Sin Chew Daily reported today (May 15) that married couples who are not staying in the same state could travel interstate once a week to see each other, however, single people are advised to be patient and stay put at their current location, instead of going back to hometown, because of the government has yet to allow them to travel interstate.

The Minister of Defence, Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob mentioned that single people are not allowed to do so unless they have the permit from the police station to travel interstate.
When asked if they wanted to travel back to hometown to meet their families, he jokingly responded, "who does a single person miss? Some people may miss their mothers, but the government now does not allow them to return to their hometown, so be patient and follow the existing standard operating procedures."
He further explained that the government understands that the policy of prohibiting interstate travel may cause married couples to be apart from each other and their children so the government is willing to loosen the rules for them to meet. He too disclosed that the government understands that some people who are working out of the state missed their parents in their hometown.
"Please be patient and follow the rules. We don't know what will happen in the future. If we can loosen the rules, we will do it," he expressed.
So, sorry to say that, if you're single, the government does not allow you to travel interstate!
