Last night (28/7) we've witnessed the greatness of our Malaysia badminton player Lee Zii Jia in winning the game against the French player Brice Leverdez and made it to the Top 16 of Men's Single at the Tokyo Olympics. The Malaysian athlete played very well with an excellent result of 21 - 17, 21 - 5.
Few hours later, Brice have posted a status on his Facebook account, praising Zii Jia for his "unbelievable" performance, while affirming that "he has a really good chance to make history for Malaysia."
The post went viral, welcoming more than 5k shares and 1.5k comments. Comments that are not only from people back in Brice's home country, but also fellow Malaysians. Many Malaysians expressed their respect and support to the French player for his gamesmanships.
Few users recall the previous game Brice has won against Malaysia's top male player - Lee Chong Wei, which it "definitely made all the Malaysian feel nervous".
Brice Leverdez is ranked 26 and this is his 3rd Olympics attempt. He is now 35 years of age.
Salute to the forthrightness of the amazing French player. Hoped to see more of you in the future!
