An altercation believed to have been ignited by a disagreement over a female friend has resulted in a distressing incident involving seven teenagers, reportedly students from a school in Putri Wangsa, located in Johor Bahru. The incident escalated to physical assault and kicking of a fellow student, and a video capturing the distressing scene has since gone viral on various social media platforms since yesterday evening.
The Chief of South Johor Bahru Police, ACP Raub Selamat, confirmed that the victim, a 15-year-old student, has taken the initiative to lodge a police report regarding the incident.
Preliminary investigations conducted so far have revealed that the group of suspects is composed of six local teenagers and one non-citizen teenager, all falling within the age range of 14 to 17 years old.
The incident transpired within Taman Bestari Indah at precisely 4:09 pm on August 9th. Regrettably, the victim suffered visible injuries, including bruises on both left and right arms, swelling on the right thigh, and generalized body discomfort.
"In light of our investigations, it has been uncovered that one of the individuals involved harbored resentment towards the victim due to their association with his girlfriend," ACP Raub Selamat shared during a recent interview.
The dynamics of the situation indicate that the primary suspect and the victim are fellow students at the same school. However, it's noteworthy that the remaining six suspects hail from different educational institutions.
In response to the distressing incident, a specialized team of police officers from the South Johor Bahru District Police Headquarters swiftly mobilized to execute a raid across multiple locations, successfully apprehending all suspects. Their actions are instrumental in aiding the ongoing investigative process.
During the operation, authorities seized several items, including a blue jersey, three long-sleeved dark blue T-shirts, a short-sleeved black T-shirt, and a mobile phone.

The legal proceedings are now in motion, with all seven suspects brought before the Johor Bahru Court today for the remand process.
The case is being meticulously examined under Section 147 of the Penal Code, and the potential consequences of a conviction under this section include a maximum imprisonment of two years, a fine, or a combination of both penalties.
