Kuching police have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of being involved in the murder of Nurul Asikin Lan, 26, who was reported missing 10 days ago.
According to Kuching District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Farhan Lee Abdullah, the suspect was detained on Saturday (14 December) following critical information received by the police.
"Acting on the information, the police discovered the victim's decomposing body in a drain area along Jalan Setia Raja, Kuching," said Mohd. Farhan in a statement issued earlier yesterday.
Authorities have confirmed that the process of identifying the remains and conducting a post-mortem examination is underway. These procedures aim to provide further insights into the circumstances surrounding Nurul Asikin's death and aid the ongoing investigation.
Additionally, Mohd. Farhan stated that a remand application for the suspect was submitted and approved by the Kuching Magistrate's Court. The court granted a seven-day remand period, which will last until December 22, to facilitate the investigation.
The case has drawn significant public attention, and police have assured that they will continue their efforts to uncover the full details of the incident.
