Horseshoes is another Irish folklore that symbolizes good luck.
The story behind lucky horseshoes begins in the 10th century, a devil visited a blacksmith and requested the blacksmith to make a horseshoe for him. The blacksmith nailed a red-hot horseshoe on the devil’s hooves. In desperation with pain, the devil begged him to remove it and promised the blacksmith to never enter any place where a horseshoe was hung above the door. Therefore, it is common in western culture to have a horseshoe hung over the doors.
However, there are certain rules for hanging a horseshoe. Some people believe that hanging a horseshow in the “U” shape will keep the devil out and attract good luck. On the other hand, hanging horseshoe in “n” shape will flow out the good luck from our home.
