A father in Kuching pleaded not guilty on the charges of raping his 12-year-old daughter.
The 36-year-old man is said to have committed the heinous act on December 25th, 2021 at their home at about 7 PM. He, however, denied the allegation as soon as the amended charge under Section 376B (1) of the Penal Code was read against him.
If found guilty, he can be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison and caning. Earlier in the court, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Aiman Mutallib Mohamad Shariff did not offer any bail to the accused. Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman, however, offered the accused bail of RM15,000 with two local sureties in the condition that he has to comply with additional conditions imposed by the prosecution.
The case will be revised on February 17th. Child rape, unfortunately, isn't an unprecedented case in Malaysia. A child that was exposed to sexual abuse can manifest their trauma towards the age of adulthood and some, never healed from it.
