A shocking incident unfolded at a party in South Africa when three men discovered a 6-foot python hidden in a bush and decided to force-feed it an entire bottle of beer. The men, in a drunken stupor, not only captured the snake but also held it high in the air, preparing to force another bottle down its throat.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the incident occurred during a wild party where the men stumbled upon the python in a bush. Encouraged by the onlookers, one of the men grabbed a 750ml bottle of Canadian Carling Black Label beer and forcefully poured it into the python's mouth.
As the beer diminished and the snake's body contorted further, the crowd's excitement grew, resulting in cheers and laughter.
Following the video's exposure, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) condemned the cruel treatment of the snake.
Additionally, the police have initiated an investigation and arrest operation due to the snake being an African rock python, the largest snake species in Africa and protected under the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
According to South African regulations, harming an African rock python can result in a fine of £2000 (approximately 11,585 Malaysian Ringgit). In a previous case, a man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for killing two pythons to make medicinal wine for back pain treatment.
Although snakes can experience alcohol intoxication similar to humans, their digestive system is different from mammals. Snakes lack a gallbladder and rely on their liver to process alcohol, but they lack the necessary enzymes. Additionally, their metabolism is slower. Snakes consuming alcohol may exhibit symptoms such as disorientation, uncoordinated movements, dehydration, difficulty breathing, respiratory suppression, liver failure, and severe damage to other organs. Consequently, they are highly susceptible to death due to alcohol ingestion.
