After Desecrating Johor Royal Museum, Singaporean Slammed With Hefty Fine & Deportation
Singaporean man, Kobes Samuel Poh San, has pleaded guilty to committing the crime of trespassing into the Johor Abu Bakar Royal Museum, as well as breaking a glass case containing royal artefacts earlier this year on February 25th 2024. For his crimes, the man has been slapped with a hefty penalty for his actions, as well as four other offences.
At the sessions court here in Kuala Lumpur last week, the judge ruled that Poh was to be fined RM30,000 for his reckless behaviour at the museum as well as be deported back to Singapore once the fine had been paid.
Represented by a lawyer from the firm Vinsa & Ian, Poh San, 32, had been charged trespassing into the museum and subsequently breaking a glass container containing precious private belongings of the Johor royalty. For these offences, he was then charged with fines of RM 4,500 & RM10,000 respectively.
The lawyer had also been quoted saying that on top of these offences, Poh, who holds a Dutch passport, had also been fined RM3,000 for breaking a glass mirror at Z Hotel as well as another RM10,000 for overstaying in the country by 183 days, in accordance of the Immigration Act.
However, the rulings had not been completed yet as yet another fine was laid out to him for administering methamphetamine and amphetamine on himself at the police narcotics department in Johor Bahru. Pleading guilty once again for this crime, he was handed a RM2,500 fine for this offence.
Speaking in the court, his lawyer had cited that a medical report that confirmed Poh San had been suffering from schizophrenia, to which he was unable to control himself while carrying out these acts.
