We often look forward to weekends when the calendar turns its page to the blue Monday.
However, once the weekend is finally here, how do you spend your long-awaited 2 days holiday? Did you spend your weekends in the bed, binge-watching Netflix with snacks for the whole day, and did nothing?
Or do you spend your time in a shopping mall for some window shopping because you feel bored and not sure what to do?
Well, here are some lifesaver ideas for you on some new and exciting ways to spend your precious weekends.
1. Make Plans in Advance
It is important for you to have a plan in mind on the things that you are going to do over the weekends. Decide and write it down in your notebook.
Surely your plans are flexible when the days arrived, but the main objective here is that you know what you want to do in your weekend. If you do not have any plans, most likely you will end up doing nothing and time flies without you realizing it.
2. Make A Checklist for Coming Week
To be productive and efficient, utilize half an hour of your weekend to sort out various things you need to get it done in the coming week.
It definitely helps to stay organized and systematic. Besides, you will have a better idea of what is coming and be prepared for it.
For example, if you need a new blazer for the presentation next week, get it during this weekend to avoid last-minute shopping.
3. Spend Time with Friends & Family
It is understandable that we are often too busy in our work during weekdays that we neglected our family and friends.
While many millennials spend their weekends catching up with their friends over a new café, keep in mind to allocate some time by having family dinner or “Sunday family day” with your family too!
Spending time with our loved one is a brilliant way to revitalize and recharge our energy after a long week. Some laughter and hugs certainly improve our mood and make us feel loved and happy.
4. Get Physical – Exercise
One of the most productive things for successful people to do during their weekends is to workout and maintain their fitness. Some of us might not have the extra time to workout during weekdays or we do feel exhausted after long hours of working.
However, there are no excuses for you to not work out as you should have ample time to get physical during the weekends. Go to the gym that you have signed up for, have a walk in a park or go for hiking instead of a shopping mall.
Besides, there are many fitness classes nowadays that you can try out such as Yoga, Pilates, Konga, and many more.
5. Avoid Drinking Alcohol Excessively
So, you have a drinking session with your friends on Friday day night to loosen your stress over the week. On Saturday night there is another catch-up session and you drink again.
There is nothing wrong for us to enjoy a drink however, do you feel a bit off-color and spend most of the day in bed the next day or nursing over a hangover?
Remember to take it easy and do not overdrink yourselves. Never let the alcohol side effect rule your time off for the next day and you end up doing nothing for the weekend except feeling uncomfortable in your bed.
6. Indulge in Hobbies Or have “Me” Time
Instead of going to a shopping mall and spending money, why not spend the money indulging in new hobbies instead? For example, you can sign up for a new painting class or latte art class and learn some new insights.
Or, you can read the book that you bought a long time ago or bake a cake with the new recipe. Plan out your day efficiently.
Besides, it is great to stay in your home and pamper yourselves for your “Me” time. Take a nice and warm bath. Scrub your body. Apply the lotion and face mask. It is important to take good care of ourselves after having a long and strenuous week.
7. No Routine
Break the routine you have during weekdays like checking emails for your work first thing in the morning or waking up at 7 am.
Jolt yourselves into a new weekend lifestyle and try something different. If you have house chores to do, try to do some of it during weekdays so that you will have more time to enjoy your weekends.
Weekends are the days where we should spend our precious time with precious people. Let’s spend the 48 hours well before we step into a new week.
