A man was found dead, believed to have been shot and stabbed in an incident by the roadside of Ladang Kelapa Sawit Kongsi 14 Bedong Sungai Petani, last night.
The incident came to light at 10.30pm after the police received a report from the public informing of the discovery of the man's body.
A police spokesman said initial investigations found that he 38 -year-old victim suffered chest injuries.
They also found that the victim had at least eight past criminal records.
"Police are still conducting further investigations into the incident and the victim's body has been sent to hospital for an autopsy," he said.
The spokesman said that following the incident, the police arrested an 18 -year-old boy not far from the location where the victim's body was found.
"We do not yet know whether the arrested teenager was involved in the murder case because further investigations are still underway.
"The teenager worked as a security guard who was assigned to guard a cable belonging to a company not far from the scene," he said.
According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
