KLANG - An elderly man was beaten with a spanner after asking his tenants to not make noise at night in an incident in Kampung Pandamaran, Port Klang, last Sunday.
In the 11pm incident, the victim, Yap Lai Tee, 71, was injured in the hand by a 20-year-old suspect who rented a room in the wooden house.
According to Lai Tee, he has long been patient with the suspect's frequent making noise at night for the past two months.
"After reprimanding him, he hit me with a spanner, causing injuries to my hands.
"The man who rented with some of his family members then fled and I asked for help from a neighbor to seek treatment at the hospital," he said when met at the scene, today.
Also present was the Head of the Klang MCA Public Complaints Bureau, Datuk Tan Bok Koon.
Lai Tee added that he had asked the family to move but sympathized with their situation and the tenants also built a store to put used items and clothes outside the house.
“I did not expect my sympathy to be reciprocated with evil until he even threatened to burn this house down. For security reasons, I then lodged a report at the Klang Police Station for further action,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bok Koon said, his party will monitor the condition of the victims and asked the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to demolish the store which caused mosquito breeding in the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong when contacted confirmed receiving the report and the case is being investigated according to Section 324 of the Penal Code.
"A thorough investigation is still underway, including intensifying efforts to track down the suspects involved," he said.
