WATCH: School Students Left Stranded In Water After Wooden Jetty Collapses In Semporna, Sabah

What a heartbreaking video!

A group of primary school students have fallen in the waters after crossing a wooden jetty that eventually collapsed. A wooden jetty close to Sk. Pulau Pababag, a pier connecting the students of those students between their home and the school, is where this incident is said to have occurred in Pulau Pababag, Semporna, Sabah.

Teachers can be seen frantically trying to rescue their students as well as their soaked textbooks while the area echoes with panic cries from the students. It was truly a heart wrenching sight to witness.

The video was posted by @jonjonahah on Twitter as well as by other creators on various social platforms. Commenters have expressed regret over the incident, questioning why the quality of accommodation in that area is still below par in 2023. Some have also urged the government officials to look into the matters urgently. The least these students deserve is a decent journey back and forth from school.

You can watch the horrendous video below:

Just last year, two young students from Semporna had unfortunately drowned after a wooden jetty in their area collapsed as well. This avoidable incident should not have happened in the first place and modernization in less developed areas in deep parts of Sabah need to be urgently prioritized.

What do you think of this incident? We welcome your thoughts.
