Based on TikTok, a housewife and woman Farhanah recently shared her disappointment in failing to open a bank account for herself due to the fact that she was a housewife.

In her video, she claimed that the bank staff initially told her she could open an account, but would need to bring necessary documents like her husband's payslip, a telephone bill or any phone-related documents to verify her phone number.

She shared her story and many other netizens related to her as they explained their similar experiences in the comments.

Due to scam syndicates, banks have become very cautious and instructed strict policies.

According to sources, should you find yourself with difficulty opening a bank account, the matter can be taken up with Bank Negara Malaysia.

But, approving applications involve extensive background checks to prevent money laundering activities.
