The AEON Mall Klebang shopping center in Perak faced a tense situation as it was evacuated in response to a suspected bomb threat call. Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the Chief of Police in Perak, confirmed the deployment of police and fire brigade teams to assess the situation.
The threat call was reportedly received by the mall's employees during the afternoon hours. Around 5:30 PM, a warning bell echoed through the mall, prompting both customers and employees to swiftly leave the premises. Aishah, a 20-year-old worker, recounted the incident. Additionally, auxiliary police informed them that the shopping center's operations would be suspended for the day.
A thorough inspection was conducted by the Royal Malaysia Police's Bomb Disposal Unit from the Perak Contingent Police Headquarters, as reported by Bernama. The building was ultimately evacuated to ensure the safety of all occupants.
In a significant development, a 38-year-old man was apprehended for his suspected involvement in the false bomb threat call. The District Police Chief of Ipoh, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, provided insights into the arrest. The local man was detained in the Tasek area at approximately 9:30 PM.

Yahaya Hassan disclosed that the suspect's potential responsibility was established through gathered confessions and analysis of the communication device used for the false call. The suspect is scheduled to be remanded for further investigation.
The case is being pursued under Section 507 of the Penal Code. Additionally, a comprehensive inspection of the mall premises yielded no evidence of suspicious items. The building was declared safe, allowing personnel to re-enter at 10:30 PM on the same night.
