In the early hours of Sunday morning, a sense of dread gripped a husband and wife as they found themselves helplessly bound and confronted by a group of armed men in their own home. The incident, which occurred at 1:30 AM, sent shockwaves through the quiet village of Kampung Nibong, leaving the victims traumatized and the community on edge.

Azlan Shah Mat Room, 36, the husband and victim, recounted the harrowing experience. He revealed that the assailants, their faces obscured by masks, forcefully entered their residence. Armed with menacing machetes, the intruders struck terror into the couple's hearts as they ransacked the house, making off with cash and valuables estimated to be worth over RM40,000.

As Azlan Shah narrated the ordeal, he explained that the couple had initially been unaware of the invaders' presence. It wasn't until he noticed two to three shadowy figures standing at the doorway of their bedroom that their serene night turned into a living nightmare. The couple's home, once a sanctuary, had become a scene of palpable fear.

"In that moment, I was getting ready to retire for the night," Azlan Shah recounted. He described how he had left their bedroom door unlocked, a precautionary measure to attend to their child if needed. Little did he know that this decision would lead to a series of chilling events.

It was when the burglars shattered a window to gain entry to their child's bedroom that the tide of terror surged. The unsuspecting couple's lives took a harrowing turn as the masked intruders realized they had been spotted. Panic set in, and the assailants wasted no time in closing in on their victims.

With machetes in hand, the robbers coerced Azlan Shah and his wife, Zaleha Mamat Don, 34, to lie face down on the floor. Their hands were tightly bound, leaving them utterly vulnerable to the whims of their captors. Even Zaleha, who had been sound asleep, was abruptly jolted awake and subjected to the same nightmarish ordeal.

The masked criminals were relentless in their pursuit of valuable loot. They tore through the house, leaving chaos in their wake. Among the items seized were Zaleha's treasured necklace and other valuable jewelry, in addition to a substantial sum of approximately RM3,000 in cash. The terrorizing ordeal extended beyond mere material loss; the robbers menaced the couple with their machetes, inflicting emotional scars that would undoubtedly linger.

For nearly two hours, the couple was held captive in their own home, their sense of security shattered and replaced with sheer dread. Miraculously, their two young children remained oblivious to the unfolding horror, sleeping through the tumultuous events that transpired just beyond their doors. Relief came only around 3 AM when the captives were finally released, mere moments before the assailants made their escape.

Azlan Shah revealed that his unease had already been sparked by reports of burglaries in nearby houses the night before. To protect his family, he had taken them to his uncle's house for safety, returning to his own home around midnight. Unbeknownst to him, the criminals had cunningly timed their intrusion to coincide with his return.

The victims wasted no time in reporting the incident to the Kuala Berang Police Station, filing their report around 3:30 AM. Assistant Superintendent Raja Saripah Robiah Raja Sulaiman, the Acting Chief of the Hulu Terengganu District Police, confirmed the receipt of the report and assured that the investigation was in progress.

This shocking home invasion serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability that even the most tranquil communities can face. The once-peaceful haven of Kampung Nibong has been irrevocably shaken, leaving its residents grappling with fear and uncertainty in the wake of this terrifying event.
