An unemployed man in Langkap, Perak has set fire to a mobile phone store after his romantic advances was rejected by a woman who works there.

According to the police, the 54 year old man had previously frequented the store quite a few times, attempting to flirt with the woman. She, however, had rejected him as she is a married woman.

Not happy with her repeated dismissal, the man came back to the store last Saturday and started pouring petrol around the store before lighting it up.

The damage done reportedly cost RM100,000 and the man was arrested on the same day.

"The suspect was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and was admitted to Teluk Intan Hospital to receive treatment," police said.
