Minister of Economy Razizi Ramli recently shared an inspiring story on his X account, featuring Wan Asikin, a local entrepreneur who has found significant success through the Peoples Income Initiative (IPR). This government program, aimed at supporting individuals in the B40 income group, has helped Wan Asikin turn her small vending machine business into a highly profitable venture.

According to Rafizi, Wan Asikin is one of the top earners in the INSAN IPR vending machine program, bringing in an impressive monthly income of between RM13,000 and RM21,000. Her vending machine is located at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Kelantan and has made a big difference in both her life and the lives of students on campus.

Rafizi expressed his relief and happiness at seeing how far Wan Asikin has come. "She used to struggle to buy necessities for her children, but now her burden has eased, and she even managed to renovate her kitchen," he said.

Wan Asikin's vending machine offers a range of canned drinks, sandwiches, and rice dishes, providing students with easy access to affordable and filling meals. Since starting her business in October 2023, she has already earned between RM120,000 and RM130,000. "Students no longer need to travel far for food. They can just come down from their rooms and get something filling at an affordable price from the machine," she explained.

Wan Asikin also shared her past financial struggles in the video posted by Rafizi. Previously, she sold snacks like curry puffs and mini spring rolls online but could only earn between RM300 and RM500 a month. With four sons to care for, her situation was challenging. However, the vending machine business has transformed her life. "For someone like me in the B40 income group, this vending machine has been a game changer. It has made a huge difference," she said.

The People's Income Initiative (IPR), launched by the government, aims to create income opportunities for individuals in lower-income groups, helping them overcome poverty and improve their financial standing. Wan Asikin's success story demonstrates the effectiveness of the initiatives in empowering Malaysians to achieve economic independence.

In her video, Wan Asikin expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the government and UiTM for giving her the opportunity to thrive in her business. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how well-crafted policies can help transform lives and uplift communities.
