A 19-year-old convenience store employee has admitted to violating his co-worker's privacy by recording her in the restroom at their workplace in Jalan Ampang Hilir, Hulu Langat. The incident occurred on December 20 at 8:23 PM.
The teenager entered his guilty plea at the Ampang magistrates' court for charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which addresses offenses against a person's modesty. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.
During the court proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Norhidayah Abdullah Sani recommended bail be set at RM6,000 with one surety. The accused, who appeared in court without legal representation, requested a lower amount, citing his responsibilities as a family breadwinner.
Magistrate Amalina Basirah Top ultimately set bail at RM2,800 with one surety. As part of the bail conditions, the court explicitly prohibited the accused from making any contact with the victim or interfering with prosecution witnesses.
Before proceeding with sentencing, the court has ordered a social welfare report on the young offender. The next case mention is scheduled for February 5, where this report will be considered in determining the appropriate sentence.
