Malindo Air is doing a little rebranding and it will no longer be known as Malindo Air! Starting on the 28th of April 2022, it changed its name to Batik Air after the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia granted them a new Air Operators Certificate.
A little history about Malindo Air, it is a subsidiary company of the Lion Air Group that was launched in 2013 through a joint venture between Indonesia's PT Lion Group and Malaysia's National Aerospace & Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (NADI). It operates a fleet of ATR 72-600s and Boeing 737s.
Since Batik Air has been operating in Indonesia since 2013, the company wanted to establish a common identity for the full-service airlines within the group. So, after gaining the approvals, the airline's chief executive officer, Captain Mushafiz Mustafa Bakri says that Batik Air now will be able to conduct improved business for seamless transfers, leveraging on the Kuala Lumpur International Airport as a transit hub for the Lion Group of airlines.
