An investigation is currently underway regarding allegations of a suspect (OKT) being assaulted while in detention by members of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at the South Klang District Police Headquarters. These disturbing allegations came to public attention through social media channels when a video related to the alleged assault of the individual while in police custody went viral.
Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong, the Chief of the South Klang District Police, confirmed that the incident took place around 10:30 AM last year on August 2nd, 2022. The investigation has determined that the apprehension of the individual was carried out under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In response to these allegations, the OKT was formally charged in the Klang Court on August 8th, 2022, under the same legal provision. The police are taking these allegations seriously and are committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, with a focus on the dissemination of a related video.
The investigation into the video's circulation will be led by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the South Klang District Police Headquarters, with the aim of determining the accuracy and context of the footage.
