LDF: Long Distance Friendships - Here’s how to make it last:

As we grow older, we finish school and then we move away from our hometowns to different cities, and we leave behind everything we know to start out lives as an adult. While it might seem daunting and scary, we slowly adapt to our new lives and start getting used to it.

Sadly, the one thing we never get used to is being away from our friends. It is always hard to move to a new city, start a new job and start a new life without your BFF by your side. Rather than letting that friendship fizzle out, we should try and keep it going!

Here are some of the ways you can make your long-distance friendship last:

+ Schedule video calls

Always choose a day and time that both of you are free for a nice long call, or just a short check in on each other. Call for any random reason too. Just make sure you talk to each other and make sure that the phone date is regular. That way there’s not distance between the two of you.

+ Work or study together

Since we are doing everything from home now, you and your BFF could just video call each other while working or studying. This is not only good for your friendship, but it will also motivate both of you to finish your work.

+ Watch Netflix together

Do you and your BFF love watching Netflix shows? Then, try starting a new series together. You can both watch it at the same time separately and talk about it later or you can just use an extension like Netflix Party where you both can watch Netflix at the same time while on a chat together.

+ Go shopping together over video calls

Back when you were on the same city, I’m sure you must have gone shopping together all the time. Who says that now that you aren’t together you can’t go shopping together? You just have to video call them while you’re at the store or better yet when shopping online, just share your screen with them!

+ Give each other surprise gifts

There’s nothing better that receiving a small gift out of the blue. It shows you how important you are to the other person and shows you that they have been thinking about you. Which is why the perfect way to let your friend know that you’ve been thinking about them is by getting them a small gift.

It could be just ordering them some food on Foodpanda or even buying them something you know they’d like on Shopee.

+ Play a game together

Nowadays there are many options of multiplayer games to choose from. There’s Fortnite, Call of Duty, PUBG and many more. If the both of you enjoy playing games, then try them out one by one until you find one that you both enjoy.

If you want to make it extra fun, you could also live stream your game on Twitch! You might turn out to be the next best gaming duo on the platform!
