If You’ve Been Putting These Trendy Beauty Products On Your Face, Stop Immediately

Just because it‘s trendy, doesn’t mean it‘s okay to put it on your face.

These products once dominated the beauty market, until consumers found out they were doing more harm than good to their skin. Their downfalls were mainly caused by false claims or empty gimmicks. Either way, you have no business putting these products on your face.

1. Harsh Facial Scrubs

Specifically, those containing crushed walnut particles. Studies have found that these ingredients are simply too abrasive for delicate human skin and could leave micro-tears which is unfortunately irreversible.

Alternative: Chemical exfoliators are generally better than physical exfoliators as they penetrate and repair the skin on a cellular level.

2. Clarisonic Face Brush

Over-scrubbing our skin is a no-no and don't let any fancy, overpriced tools tell you otherwise. Clarisonic facial brushes are not bad per se and in no way advertised as an exfoliator, but for those with sensitive skin, we suggest giving them a pass as it may cause irritation. The firm bristles on these tools aren't exactly doing your skin any good and could very well lead to redness.

Alternative: If deep-cleansing is your goal, try the double cleansing method.

3. Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Peel-Off Mask

It's basically like putting Elmer's glue on your face— not cute. Boscia is in no way a bad brand, we particularly love that it's cruelty-free and their other popular products are worth every hype— just not this one. Yes, it is capable of removing dirt off your face, but it is also capable of removing the literal skin off your face.

Alternative: Clay masks perform a better job at removing all the gunks on your face, and they have long-term benefits.

4. Makeup Remover Wipes

https://image.goody25.com/images/catalog/59661/20210706_16255408276681_mobile.jpeg

It's the fastest way to age your skin so if that's not your goal, stay away from makeup remover wipes. It tugs at your skin the more you use it, contains an unnecessary amount of alcohol (bad news for sensitive skin) and it's not the ultimate lazy girl hack that you may think it is.

Alternative: Stick to cleansing oils, balms, or micellar water. They're much better for your skin.

5. Glamglow Glittermask Gravitymud Firming Treatment Mask

Aside from the aesthetics and the harm it causes the environment, glitter-infused masks are essentially all talk, no walk. Don't be fooled by the claims on the packaging either— glitters have no beauty benefits whatsoever.

Alternative: GlamGlow Super Mud Clearing Treatment is a way better mask.

If you these products sitting on your shelf, you know what to do. Your skin has gone through enough. it's time you be kind to it!
