The decaying corpse of a man who had been reported missing since November last year was finally discovered at a shophouse in Malehah Central, Jalan Matang, Kuching, today.
According to the Padawan District Police Chief Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, the putrid corpse was found by a contractor who was scheduled to do maintenance around the building around 11 AM. The victim was identified as Chrissie Hynde Thompson Jamban, 28, of Taman Alamanda Indah, Jalan Belatok based on the discovery of some of the victim's personal belongings.
"The victim was previously reported missing by his mother on November 15, 2021, where the victim had previously said he did not want to live with his family and wanted to be independent. According to the victim's mother, there had never been any misunderstanding between the victim and the family," Abang Zainal Abidin said in a statement.
He added that the victim's remains were sent to the Sarawak General Hospital Forensic Medicine Department for further action. So far from the initial investigation, no criminal elements were found at the location where the victim's remains were found.
"The door of the place was also locked from the inside and had to be broken to get inside. In addition, the examination by the Medical Officer also estimated that the victim had died more than two weeks from the date of discovery," he said.
