A mother has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail for negligence after discovering her son's inappropriate behaviour with his younger sister.

In 2020, the 20-year-old son was sentenced to 11 years in prison and seven strokes of the cane for his actions. According to reports, he engaged in inappropriate activities with his 12-year-old sister three times in just four months.

The 45-year-old mother is facing five charges for neglecting her son's misconduct with his younger sister, allowing him to continue such behaviour without reporting it to the authorities.

The accused first witnessed the incident in 2010 when her 13-year-old son was hugging his 5-year-old sister without any clothes on. It was later discovered that there was semen on the daughter's panties.

Despite questioning her son about his actions, the mother is charged with failing to ensure that he would not repeat his mistakes, all while still allowing the two to sleep in the same bed.

One night in 2017, the mother was awakened by unusual movements and realized her son was engaging in inappropriate behaviour with his younger sister again. At the time, she only told the boy that he should not do that as they were siblings.

During the sentencing, the judge pointed out that the accused, being both the perpetrator and victim's mother, should have intervened to stop her son's actions and protect her daughter.

The judge stated that due to the accused's failure to prevent her son's behaviour, the daughter now has to endure the consequences of being mistreated for the rest of her life.
