The ketogenic diet or keto diet is one of the modern ways to be slim now. Keto diet does not only can help us to lose weight and improve health, yet it can also give benefit to diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer as well as epilepsy.

What is Keto Diet?
Keto diet is similar to the low-carb diet, in which we need to consume high-fat and avoid carbs as much as possible in our daily meal consumption.
Through the keto diet, the daily consumption of carbohydrates will reduce drastically with the replacement of healthy fat. The reduction of carbs will put our body into a metabolic state – ketosis. When ketosis happens, our body can burn fat for our daily energy usage in an incredibly efficient way instead of burning carbs as fuels.

Am I in Ketosis state?
The most accurate and reliable way to test if we are in ketosis is through the blood ketone levels testing. However, the cost of the test kit is expensive, and the blood test can be costly if the test is taken regularly.
Here’s another alternative method, which can be considered as a simple and easy way for you. We can use a special indicator strip to measure the ketones levels in our urine. This is an affordable method and we can assess the presence of ketones in our urine on a daily basis, although it might not be as accurate as blood testing.

What to eat for Keto?
The main concept of the keto diet is to reduce the consumption of carbs, aim for more staples and green veggies.
During my keto diet, I used to check all the food labels in case I consumed more than 30 grams of carbs each day. My meal for every day may include the chicken thigh, cheese, eggs, salmon, sausage, bacon, avocados, low-carb veggies and so on. Do bear in mind, some fruits consist of a lot of carbs, do check online before you enjoy them. Nuts, as well as Greek yogurt, will be my best choice for snacks and supper!

What’s so great about the keto diet is that it is a way more superior than low-fat diet. This is because we do not need to go on a diet by reducing the food intake or counting calories of our daily meal consumption. This would definitely be the best way to lose weight for girls, who are sick of counting calories and controlling their food intake.
Having a keto diet will increase our feelings of fullness, although the intake of food may be less than what we’ve taken as usual. This would be another reason why I would prefer a Keto diet, as I don't have to suffer for hunger yet I can still lose my weight in the meantime. One study found that people on the keto diet can lose 2.2 times more weight than those on a calorie-restricted low-fat diet!
