If you are always sleeping like a log and can’t wake up in time to get McDonald’s hash brown, don’t worry we are the same too. We understand the struggle.
With this hash brown recipe, you can simply make it at home instead of forcing yourself to wake up extra early just to get a hash brown from McDonald’s.
Here’s what you will need:
+ 2 / 450g potatoes (huge ones)
+ 3 / 30g tablespoons of cornstarch
+ ½ teaspoon salt
+ 1 clove of garlic (pounded)
+ ¼ teaspoon pepper
+ a pinch of sugar *optional
+ Oil for deep frying
Here’s what you will need to do:
1. Peel the potatoes and then wash the thoroughly.
2. Cut the potato into 4 parts vertically.
3. Boil the potatoes until cooked. You can check if they’re cooked by poking the potatoes a fork or stick. If the are soft and the fork/stick goes through it easily, then it is cooked.
4. Then, remove the potatoes from the boiling water and grate them.
5. Add the cornstarch, pepper, garlic, salt and sugar to the potatoes and mix thoroughly until combined.
6. Take a small amounts of the potato mixture and start shaping it into the hash brown shape by pressing it together using your hands. Make sure it's compact.
7. Next, put the shaped hash browns in the freezer for 20 minutes.
8. After 20 minutes, preheat your pan and add enough oil to cover the height of the hash brown.
9. Make sure your oil is hot, then add the hash browns to the oil.
10. Fry until golden brown.
11. Then, remove from pan and place on plate with tissue for oil to drain.
12. After a few minutes, you can happily dip your freshly cooked hash brown into some chilli sauce and enjoy!
