"Hope The Tigers Didn't Escape!" Zoo Negara Suffered Flash Flood Yesterday, One Capybara Briefly Escaped
A flash flood struck Zoo Negara, for over an hour, beginning at 5 PM yesterday. Despite the alarming situation, Deputy President Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana assured the public that this incident was less severe compared to previous floods, and all the animals are now safe.
Staff members were still on-site during the unexpected incident, allowing them to respond swiftly to ensure the safety of the zoo's inhabitants. While one capybara managed to briefly escape its enclosure, the capable staff promptly rescued and returned it to its designated area.
Remarkably, the zoo's two beloved pandas were also secure, located in a higher area within the facility.

With commendable dedication, Zoo Negara initiated cleanup operations immediately after the floodwaters receded. Their efforts continued late into the evening, with the facility fully restored by 11:30 PM.
Mr. Rosly expressed his gratitude to the fire department and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) for their invaluable assistance during the period. He emphasized that without their quick and dedicated support, the cleanup would have taken much longer.
In a heartening turn of events, Zoo Negara has already reopened its doors and is operating as usual.
