A rental ad tailored to Chinese women has ignited uproar on social media platforms following its posting by a Singaporean man on a prominent rental ads page on a social media platform. The listing advertises a minimally furnished room situated in Sengkang, with a monthly rent set at S$750 (RM2,600).
Online users were taken aback upon seeing the room's portrayal in the listing's image, which depicted sparse furnishings including a mirror, a couple of built-in cupboards, a fan, and what seemed to be a daybed. The absence of a proper bed caught the attention of potential renters, prompting concern.
Adding to the controversy, the landlord, portrayed as a middle-aged shirtless man in the listing's photo, specifically indicated a preference for female tenants. This further raised suspicions regarding the landlord's motives.
Netizens voiced discomfort and skepticism regarding the rental listing's details, particularly highlighting the lack of essential amenities and the landlord's appearance featured in the photo.
