Samurais are fighters and warriors in Japan but now all that is left of them are movies like 47 Ronin and The Last Samurai. And the most impressive of all is Rurouni Kenshin.
Having won the hearts of many by the display of the samurai's speed and agility and warmed the hearts of all by Kenshin's pledge not to kill by his sword anymore, the maker of Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends is going to make a huge comeback this summer, six years since its last sequel. This is no other than the screening of another sequel, Rurouni Kenshin Saishusho. What's more? There are not just one but TWO to satisfy the fans.
The sequels coming soon are Rurouni Kenshin Saishusho: The Final/The Beginning.
Ironically, the first of the movie is called the Final while the second is the Beginning. Looking back at the last Rurouni Kenshin movie: The Legend Ends, it certainly seems as if the legend has not ended yet and Kenshin is still on the road. So, could the titles have a deeper meaning to it? Could it have been representing the Final Of Troubles for the first movie and The Beginning of a New Journey for the second? Is this a promise for another sequel or two?
The Final will be released in Japan on July 3 while the second is scheduled to be released on August 7.
Takeru Satoh and Emi Takei
What is more interesting is that Takeru Satoh and Emi Takei will still be playing the lead roles as Kenshin Himura and Kaoru Kamiya respectively.
Takeru Satoh had undergone a lot of training to film for Rurouni Kenshin and as could be seen from the earlier sequels his role was indeed a most energy consuming role. Will he now, at the age of 30, be as fit physically as then? Will he be able to play his part as a skillful and agile samurai to perfection?
Emi Takei had not been making many appearances on TV lately since her announcement of her marriage with the singer TAKUHIRO. She had since then given birth to a daughter in 2018. Have her acting skills turn rusty by such a long break from her career as an actress? Or has she become better and improved herself during her absence from the screen?
Will they be able to live up to the expectations of the audience to be the same Kenshin and Kaoru again?
The New Enemy, "Junchu"
In the latest sequel, Kenshin will again be denied the luxury of living peacefully with Kaoru as his past kept catching up with him and more troubles await him. The secret of the scar on his face will be revealed in these two movies and along with it comes a new enemy “Junchu".
Will "Junchu" be Kenshin's strongest enemy that will make him take up his sword to kill again?
Watching the trailer did make us get excited for the movie, but will we be able to see it on the screen? The official release dates in Malaysia is yet to be confirmed and there are only a limited number of Japanese movies that make it to the screen in Malaysia. Fingers crossed. Let us hope that all Rurouni Kenshin's fans will not be denied the chance to watch it in the cinema.
