A Malaysian named Danny Goh faced an unsettling incident on December 23rd at an apartment complex in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur when four police officers halted him while he was walking to the car park. In addition to checking his identification, they demanded access to his mobile phone.
Goh, employed in the automotive sector, stored customers MyKad details on his phone, which led the officers to accuse him of being involved in loan shark activities. His browsing history also revealed visits to gambling websites, resulting in additional allegations of illegal gambling.

Allegedly, the officers threatened him with court charges and imprisonment, demanding RM10,000 to resolve the matter, according to Malaysia Kini. Goh transferred RM1,000 initially and handed over RM9,000 in cash later.
Upon seeking help from Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng's assistant Dic Lai, Goh was advised to file a police report. However, initial attempts were reportedly declined by the police stations.
Subsequently, after Lai intervened and informed the officers' identity verification, they contacted Goh to settle the matter and agreed to return the RM10,000. When Goh refused, they returned the money to his residence.
